If the car is worth £8500 and they are charging you £7000 yearly premium with a £500 excess. to me it means that they are trusting you with a grand of their money. MORE if they don’t ask for the full amount upfront.
I think that’s quite fair considering you could *get it stolen* and make some instant money off them if you were so inclined.
I know many cases of that happening.

Try taking the risk yourself and get NO theft insurance. You’ll see the premium going down quite considerably..
Btw you could get pay as you go insurance and pay month by month from

wow, £5K?? When you ask for third party only, many will still include the fire and theft bit so you might want to make 100% sure they aren’t adding it. To be sure of that, when they ask me I always declare that it is worth 25 pence . If they say “WHAT” I then say 24 pence and go down one P each time they say “WHAT” ha ha ha weird I know but so are insurance salespeople!
If they go on I will declare it “not garaged and with keys in the ignition”.

Anyway, a fiesta will not do 120mph like the roadster does so that’s one reason for having a higher insurance price. I think a roadster develops 80bhp! Hardly a fiesta :) Good luck with it anyway, hope you get it insured.
